My aim is to help you lose excess weight as well as improving your general health. I not only want you to look slimmer, I also want to ensure you are happier, heathier and more satisfied with life. I focus on changing your day to day habits - developing new habits and breaking bad ones. These habits might not just be related to diet, a good slimming programme takes into account sleep habits, movement and other routines to ensure lasting success.
I also find patients enjoy examining their own motivations and drivers to reach their slimming goals.
Patients often find a large burden has been relieved if they can speak honestly and openly about which goals are achievable, how they might overcome obstacles and hardships, and defining why they want to be slimmer in the first place.
• My methods are entirely evidence based, there are no “faddy” diets and time restricted plans. There are no stringent rules, we will only achieve your goals through flexibility and choices.
• I am a practicing GP, so I understand fully the medical and psychological issues around slimming that you might have.
• We work together to explore what may or may have not worked with previous diets or attempts to slim down, building on what went right and modify where it failed.
• You will make choices of which unhealthy lifestyle habits can be dropped and which can healthy habits can be gained.
• Allows you to choose movement-based exercise that works for you – gaining strength as much as getting out of breath! I love exploring new sports and exercises and we can make your movement choices work for you.

There are two main results that can be expected if you can stick to our joint plan.
The first is Loss of Weight
My aim is for you to start to feel that you are slimming within 2 weeks. There are differing on opinions on how much a person should aim to lose. I aim for a gradual reduction of around 0.5-1 Kg every 7 days for most patients. You will hit plateaus in losing weight, this is disheartening but also this is expected as it is the body's natural response losing significant fat. I will help you understand why this happens and how to overcome this.
Whilst it might be nice to see ‘instant’ results, I want your slimming to be a life-time change. One of the keys to healthy and sustained weight loss is maximising your nutrition through macro and micro nutrients at the same time.
The second benefit is an overall increase in health and wellbeing.
By losing weight the right way you reduce the chances of you developing a number of chronic conditions - hypertension (high blood pressure), gout, diabetes and heart disease,
Everyone is different, but these conditions should improve once you successfully compete a slimming programme.
Being a healthy weight is associated with increased happiness and wellbeing – these improvements should have further knock on effects, not craving the wrong kind of foods and exercise and sports becoming easier and more fun.
I know that people who lose weight sometimes complain of tummy gas or other changes in digestion habits. This is usually due to increased fibre in the diet and the effect will wear off.
